YAKUTSK

Yakutsk is the capital city of the Sakha Republic (Yakutia) in northeastern Siberia, Russia. It is one of the coldest inhabited places on Earth.

Situated on the banks of the Lena River, Yakutsk experiences extremely low temperatures, with average January temperatures dropping below -40°C (-40°F).

Despite its remote location and harsh climate, Yakutsk is a significant urban center, serving as a regional hub for commerce, culture, and government activities.

The city's isolation is primarily due to its extreme climate and the vast distances separating it from other major population centers in Russia.
